When couples split up and one or both are in the military, special issues arise beyond what we see in a divorce not involving service members. These can include:

  • Division of a military pension
  • Long distance parenting plans
  • Special custody issues
  • Obtaining service of process upon a service remember on active duty
  • Obligations of support imposed by military regulations
  • Obtaining a stay of a divorce or post-decree proceeding under the Service Members’ Civil Relief Act (formerly, Soldier and Sailors’ Relief Act)

These and other issues require not only experience in family law, but also an intimate knowledge of the military. Attorney Tim Spurrier is not only an Ohio lawyer with an active family law practice, he is also a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps.
